Woodstock – The Livin’ Was Easy

Rarely can an entire generation be embodied by a singular event. And yet, that’s exactly what happened one rainy mid-August weekend in 1969. More than 400,000 people gathered that weekend for the greatest rock n’ roll festival of all time. That single weekend sparked a movement that went down in history as the Woodstock Generation.

The Woodstock Generation mirrored hippie culture. They rejected authority, embraced individuality, and were pacifist in nature. They were a generation approaching adulthood during a period of political turmoil, struggling to find their place in the world, and reconcile their unique sense of spirituality. To this day, remnants of this movement permeate our pop-culture, such as the Peanuts comic book character who was named after the festival.

On May 14, Jeans ‘n Classics will feature The Music of Woodstock – Absent and Present, to commemorate one of the most influential cultural phenomenon of the past century. Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker and the amazing Janis Joplin will be featured in an amazing line-up.
