Canada Life Build

34 Forbes Street

Canada Life LogoThe new Canada Life – previously London Life – recognizes the issues facing Canadians, and the communities where they live, can be complex, and often connected to each other. So, their approach looks at all the ways they can support communities to help them reach their potential, every day. Through their Stronger Communities Together™ program, they’re addressing key issues in the community, at the national, regional and local levels.

The company and its employees are putting this approach into action on Forbes Street with the 2019 Canada Life Build. This summer 100 Canada Life employees will roll up their sleeves to build a home with Jennifer and her family.

Jennifer is a single mom with two children – Ilja and Mateus, who are pursuing post-secondary studies in the arts. Jennifer works in the violence against women sector as a counsellor and advocate. She is very passionate about this work, and loves what she does. She also enjoys cooking, volunteering, and spending time with her family. Currently, Jennifer’s rent and living expenses eat up most of her income. Emergencies are going on a credit card which she works to pay down throughout the year. There is no wiggle room. She’s a great budgeter, but it’s very tight and at times stressful.

The opportunity to be a homeowner with Habitat means the world to Jennifer. It represents future security for her family and peace of mind, knowing she can meet their needs, and build for their future. They’re so grateful and excited to begin their next chapter.

Thanks to the generous support of Canada Life, the dream of affordable homeownership is now a reality for Jennifer. This is the second project Canada Life has supported on Forbes Street – truly helping build a community in Manor Park.

There are many ways you can get involved in this exciting project.

HABITAT BUILD DAY

Join Habitat for Humanity to help us build a safe, decent, and affordable home for Jennifer and her family.  Up to 10 of your employees, clients, friends and/or family members can join a team. Teams pledge to raise a minimum of $2,500 and build on-site with Habitat for a day.  100% of your donation will go toward building this home.

No construction experience is necessary to participate in a Habitat Build Day! We provide all tools, training, and equipment – even lunch! Each team that reaches the goal of $2,500 will have the opportunity to work on-site for a day.

Once you’ve registered your team, we’ll contact you to start the process of booking your Habitat Build Day!
