Libro Credit Union Helps the Community Learn About Money Management
Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is committed to building safe, affordable homes for eligible homeowners. Part of the homeownership program includes education sessions to help prepare participants for the responsibilities and challenges of owning a home, which includes financial planning.
Homeowners need to be wise about their finances in order to have funds on hand for updating décor, routine home maintenance and any of the little (or big) surprises that can happen at any time.
With the help of Libro Credit Union’s Prosperity Fund, Habitat Heartland is now able to take these education sessions into the community and offer help to others beyond our own homeowners. Topics include: Household Budgeting, Basic Banking, Credit Cards & Prepaid Cards and How to Build Your Credit. All sessions are free of charge and led by experienced Libro Lending Specialists who can answer all of your questions about your personal and household finances. We do ask that you let us know that you plan to attend so that we know how many people to expect.
On July 17, 2019 we held our first financial workshop in the community on the topic of Household Budgeting. Those in attendance were able to benefit from the expertise of Libro Lending Specialists Dan and Shelley, seen here.

Habitat Heartland has joined with Libro Credit Union to make financial literacy training available in London and will be appearing soon in St.Thomas as well. We were happy to make these sessions available to community groups especially during November which was Financial Literacy Month in Canada. Improving personal financial literacy is one to way build strength, stability and self-reliance in the lives of those around us.
