Help the environment by extending the life of still useful materials
Donated salvage and deconstruction items are sold at the ReStore, and proceeds go to help Habitat build affordable homes for families.
Habitat Heartland Ontario is always looking for deconstruction projects. If we aren’t building a house, we are trying to take one down for the purpose of acquiring donations to be sold in our ReStores to help fund our operation and building costs.
Items that we can take and resell include: cabinetry, fixtures, appliances, lighting, windows, doors, flooring, bricks, and more.

How it works:
-
Once you've completed a donation form for the items that you wish to donate. We will then email or call you, to visit your home (if needed) and provide you with an estimate of the value for your donation.
-
We will then schedule a pick-up or deconstruction date that fits with your timing. *Please allow for at least two to three weeks advance notice for booking deconstruction dates, as our team is typically booked.
-
On the scheduled date, our team will arrive to remove the item(s) from your home — this can usually be completed within a day.
-
Once your donated items are on the sales floor at one of our ReStores, we will mail/email you your charitable tax receipt for the assessed value of your donations.
Want to get involved with Habitat Heartland Ontario's deconstruction and salvage program?
We are always looking for volunteers to join our deconstruction crews. It is hard work, but very rewarding. If you are interested in joining our salvage volunteer team, please complete a volunteer application and choose "deconstruction and salvage" as your area of interest. Construction or carpentry experience is an asset but not a requirement.
