Whether you are donating furniture, appliances, building materials, home décor, kitchen cabinets, or the contents of an entire house, your support helps Habitat for Humanity fulfill its mission. Below, you'll find a list of acceptable and unacceptable donation items

Dropping Off Donations

Dropping off Donations

  • We have 7 ReStore locations: 3 in London, St. Thomas, Woodstock, Stratford, and Brantford.
     

  • On the scheduled date, our team will arrive to remove the item(s) from your home — this can usually be completed within a day.
     

  • Once your donated items are on the sales floor at one of our ReStores, we will mail/email you your charitable tax receipt for the assessed value of your donations.

Acceptable Donations

Acceptable Donations

  • Appliances – large and small (preferably 10 yrs or newer in white) (electric and gas)

  • Architectural columns, mantels, antique moldings

  • Cabinets – kitchen, bathroom and storage

  • Carpeting and under pad (new only)

  • Doors (in good shape, no hollow bi-folds)

  • Drywall, blue board, green board and cement board in full of half uncut sheets

  • Drywall mud and tape

  • Electronic devices and fixtures in working condition*

  • Flooring (in new condition) tiles, wood, vinyl, engineered, laminate, parquet etc.

  • Furniture (no mattresses, box springs)

  • Garden and outdoor supplies (tools, structures, sheds, wheelbarrows, interlocking paving stones)

  • Hardware (hinges, handles, knobs, nails, bolts and screws)

  • Tools (both hand and power)

  • Lighting fixtures (interior and exterior)

  • Office furniture

  • Plumbing Fixtures (no chips, cracks or stains)

  • Plumbing pipes and tubing (copper, ABS, PVC, and galvanized)

  • Roofing (shingles, barrier paper, and membranes)

  • Sealants and caulking (new unopened only)

  • Shelving units

  • Siding (wood, aluminum, vinyl)

  • Steel and aluminum (tubs, desks, siding, roofing, etc.)

  • Wall coverings (new or “as new” – paper, vinyl, tiles, paneling)

  • Windows (in good condition in frames; shutters also acceptable)

  • Wood (lumber, trim, molding, plywood, MDF, OSB, composite, P/T in useable dimensions and condition only)

  • Paint or stain (good usable quantities and condition)

Unacceptable Donations

  • Automotive supplies

  • Toys and safety equipment

  • Books, magazines

  • Clothing

  • Construction waste (any item in unusable dimension or condition)

  • Fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides or plants

  • Glass (not in frames)

  • Hazardous materials (flammables, acids, solvents)

  • Mattresses & box springs

  • Plumbing fixtures that are chipped or stained (no 13 litre toilets)
