This quiet family from Harriston, Ontario has persevered through some very rough times and knows that the chance to work towards a Habitat home is an incredible blessing.
The new homeowners, spoke at the groundbreaking on the effort it has taken to get to this point, and how grateful she and her children are at being welcomed to the community.
“My family appreciates being able to purchase this home through Habitat for Humanity,” she said. “We’re excited to start building this next chapter in Listowel.”
They have always talked about “someday”. Most of their plans revolve around whether they can do something “when we own a home or someday when things improve”. Now with the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity they will finally be able to achieve their dreams and put those plans in motion. The 2016 Listowel build for the family means that they can live in a safe, secure home where they will not be embarrassed to welcome friends and family. They look forward to creating new traditions and memories in a house that is truly their own.
