HABITAT PHOTOGRAPHER
Photographers help capture designated photos of our Habitat Homeowners, our employees, volunteers and the community that we serve - on the build site and at any special event. Photographers must be able to take clear, engaging photos indoors and outdoors. The ideal candidate will have their own equipment and the ability to send photos electronically. If you’re looking to build your portfolio, expand your networking circle, or simply give back to your community, this position is for you.
ADMINISTRATION VOLUNTEER
Our office volunteers provide administrative support to our team with a variety of office tasks such as data entry, database management, research, organizational jobs, posting online advertisements, newsletter, fundraising, answering the phone, responding to email inquiries and more. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and the ability to use office equipment is an asset.
COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS
Get involved on one of our volunteers committees such as Fundraising, Volunteers, Regional Support, Family Selection & Support Committee or Board of Directors. Involvement in one of our committees, gives you the opportunity to contribute invaluable ideas, industry experience, and support to Habitat Heartland Ontario.
EVENT VOLUNTEER
Events occur regularly throughout the year. The time commitment, location, and type of volunteer opportunities vary from one event to another. Volunteers lend a hand in many ways such as set up, registration, fundraising and representing Habitat in the community.
OUTREACH AMBASSADOR
Outreach volunteers help with promoting and increasing awareness about Habitat at local events by running a community booth, posting flyers in the community or assisting with orientating new volunteers to the organization. If you love working with people and have a flexible schedule, we would love to hear from you! Additional training is provided.
SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
We have plenty of ways to get involved if you’re a student at Western University, Ivey Business School or Fanshawe College. Habitat for Humanity Western (Habitat UWO) has their own group that organizes outreach and fundraising events on campus, participates in local Habitat Build Days, and supports Habitat for Humanity International. The Students at Ivey Business School developed a program called Ivey Connects. Ivey Connects is a student run organization with the goal of inspiring students to contribute to the societies in which they live. They help local charities through volunteering and fundraising, while utilizing the skills the students are learning while in the program. We also have partnerships within programs at Fanshawe College during the school year. The Fanshawe Carpentry Apprenticeship Program supports the build site with framing the walls and roof of our homes. The Plumbing Apprenticeship program helps with the entire plumbing installation from rough-in to finish. The Construction Project Management department supports us by sending volunteers to our regular build days, and the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program supports us by designing and installing our HVAC systems. COMMUNITY GROUP OPPORTUNITIES
We offer an experience like no other! We offer great hands-on opportunities for small groups, both on our build sites and at a Habitat ReStore. We provide tangible experiences that drive home the importance of community involvement.
Our ReStores can accommodate between 5-15 team members and we will provide all equipment, onsite training and direction for each team member to make sure they feel comfortable and confident. Volunteers are essential to our ReStore success. Every volunteer that greets a customer, processes a donation or makes a sale keeps usable goods out of landfills and redirects funds to help Habitat homeowners build strength, stability and self- reliant futures. Multiply that impact by the efforts of your entire team and we are well on our way to a stronger, healthier community!
If you’re ready to bring your community team together or have any further questions. Please contact the Volunteer Manager with details of your group and expectations at 519-455-6623 Ext 207, or rvanderharst@habitat4home.ca.
